Introductory Level 1 GPS Course

Time: 2.5 hours

$35.00 per person (max 25 people)

$350.00 group rate (15 or more)

This course is an excellent introduction for those who are novices with G.P.S. and related technology. We offer a 2.5 hour clinic that will address a number of key elements regarding G.P.S. such as:

  • Brief history of GPS
  • How GPS/DGPS/WAAS works
  • Common Human and Technical Errors
  • Types of GPS/hardware/software
  • Basic functions, datums and settings
  • Basic functions of compasses, barometers and their limitations
  • Limitations and benefits of G.P.S. devices
  • How GPS can enhance safety in the back country
  • Navigating menus, what you need to know and what you don't need to know
  • Basics of map types and position formats
  • Q and A period (demo units available)

These courses are great for the casual users to the most avid back country enthusiasts. If you are with a large school, scout, family or work related group we can custom cater to your location and concerns as well.

Intermediate Level 2 GPS Course

Time: 3 hours/Outdoors

$40.00 per person (max 20 people)

$500.00 group rate (15 or more)

In this course we take the principles of our intro clinic and put them to practice in an outdoor program. These are usually smaller group sizes and involve briefing, geocaching and debriefing. Here we pay more attention to the individual and their expectations of their G.P.S. Devices. This is a good opportunity to hone one's skill in using this technology for navigation, fun and safety.

Level 3 Navigation Course

Time: 4-5 hours (Rain or shine. Bring a lunch!)

$60.00 per person
